The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied claims that it was encouraging commercial motorcyclists to return to the roads where the state government has banned them from operating.
Reacting to an assertion by the state chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Henry Ajomale that PDP was aiding the return of the operators to expressways in the state, PDP described its main rival as notorious for deliberately misrepresenting facts to malign it.
The PDP further described the accusation as disgraceful, mischievous and only playing the ostrich, as APC-led government has decided to allow the commercial cyclists to return to the affected roads in a bid to woo them to vote for the party in the coming elections.
"For the sake of clarity, PDP will not undermine the rights of Lagosians to move around or do business within the acceptable and humane rules.
"We shall indeed allow enabling environment for all to eke out a living lawfully.
"We are thus surprised that the APC can at this time accuse the PDP of violating a draconian law that they had enforced for over three years," he said, adding "It is a known fact that it is the APC populated Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) that is presently considering a law to allow Okada riders return to restricted roads."
